The World Seafood Center
After receiving the required building permits in December 2021, groundwork for construction of the first phase of around 35,000 m2 of the World Seafood Center started on 3 January 2022.
The building will become the world's largest cold storage facility for seafood, located just west of the central area in Oslo Airport City, next to the new runway 3. The building is unique, not only in size but also for its sustainable and innovative energy solutions, which have been developed in collaboration with Statkraft with assistance from Malling & Co Energi og Miljø AS. The two-storey building with over 80% utilisation will be BREEAM-NOR certified.
Gardermoen Perishable Centre AS (GPC), which has signed a lease agreement for approximately 18,000 m2 on the first floor, will take over its areas in June 2023. Oslo Seafood Centre has leased an area of approximately 12,000 m2 on the second floor of phase 1, which is planned for completion in July 2023. The building will be expanded in phase 2 with an additional 20,000 m2. Mowi ASA has signed a lease agreement for approximately 10,000 m2 on the first floor and is expected to move into the premises in Q1 2024.
The total area will be approximately 55,000 m2 constructed in a turnkey project in collaboration with Vedal Construction and with architectural design by Astrup & Hellern.
