Breaking ground for a new seafood terminal

On 3 January, construction began on the World Seafood Center in Oslo Airport City (OAC). Now, more actors in the seafood industry are expected to follow.

"We are now constructing the largest and most modern solution for future exports of fresh seafood to Europe and the global market," said Torgil Stålberg, Managing Director of Gardermoen Perishable Center (GPC). After building permits were granted just before the new year, groundwork began on 3 January, led by Marius Listerud at OAC, who serves as the project manager along with Vedal Construction. The expansive seafood terminal will be developed in two phases, with the first phase set to be completed and handed over to GPC in June 2023.

The establishment of the World Seafood Center will mark the beginning of a new business cluster for the seafood industry, creating thousands of jobs in the airport city at Gardermoen. This seafood terminal will serve as the central logistics hub for exporting fresh Norwegian seafood by air and road to destinations across the globe.
